Albert Arnold Gore, Jr., better known as Al Gore, is an environmental advocate and former politician who served as the United States’ 45th vice president, serving from 1993 to 2001 under the Clinton administration. Al Gore also attracts success outside politics. Aside from his environmental and political undertakings, he is also a businessman, a writer, and a journalist. In addition to this, he likewise starred in the 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth, which earned an Academy Award in 2007, and authored the book An Inconvenient Truth: The Planetary Emergency of Global Warming and What We Can Do About It, which also earned the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album.

For 24 years, Al Gore worked the American politics field serving first in the U.S. House of Representatives, and then later on becoming a senator representing the state of Tennessee. He eventually became the United States’ vice president after the senatorial stint.

Al Gore was the Democrat representative for the presidency in the 2000 elections. He won the popular vote by about 500,000 votes, but lost to Republican George W. Bush in the end.

At present, Al Gore is the chairperson and founder of Alliance for Climate Protection; the co-founder and chairperson of Generation Investment Management; the co-founder and chairperson of Current TV; a member of the board of directors of Apple Inc; and a senior consultant to Google. He is also an associate in the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. In addition, Al Gore works in the Middle Tennessee State University as a visiting professor, and was a visiting professor at Fisk University, the University of California, Los Angeles and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Al Gore has several awards to his name. He and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change were awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. He received the 2007 Primetime Emmy Award for his television program Current TV, and a Webby Award in 2005. Time magazine named him the runner-up for the 2007 Person of the Year.
